"I created this programme for women who want to embrace yoga after birth - either as a mother or a teacher. The YogaBellies Mother & Child programme will guide you step-by-step through the beautiful postnatal journey, using Yoga and Ayurveda as your tools for recovery, wellness and mum and baby bonding.
We journey the fourth trimester and what this looks like for mum and baby. Making use of Yoga and Ayurvedic practices to ensure rest, recuperation and recovery for mother and child are the focus of this programme. We cover not only post-natal yoga for mothers but also the ancient art of baby yoga and infant massage. These tools can help us, and the mothers we work with, to recover naturally from childbirth and fully enjoy the sacred post-partum period. Modern media tells us to ‘get back our pre-pregnancy body’ and to ‘bounce back’ but traditional literature explains why this is detrimental to women in the long term.
This course focuses on embracing the new role of mother and how to integrate the baby into our lives, on and off the yoga mat. We focus on mental health postnatally and also our physical recovery and on rebuilding strength and loving our new postpartum bodies. We look at the YogaBellies BAP’s practices - exploring the relationship between the Back, Abs and Pelvic Floor - to ensure that mother recovers fully and in the longer term from birth, in safe and timely manner.
If we try to ‘bounce back’ after birth we’ll feel exhausted, drained, demotivated and we’re fighting a losing battle. We may even affect our relationship with our new baby. The fact is that embracing post-partum and respecting our recovery period is essential for our wellbeing throughout life.
The best bit about this programme? You can absolutely choose to complete it for your own personal yoga practice or development, but it's also a fully accredited Yoga Alliance International qualification. In fact, by the end of this programme, you'll be fully qualified and insurable to teach Postnatal yoga for mum; baby yoga and even baby massage: That's how comprehensive it is!

What is Mother and Child™ ?
I created this programme for those who want to become an expert in yoga for the post-partum period, for mother and child. This is not dry teacher training course, we look primarily at YOU living and embracing your yoga - on and off the yoga mat - from breathing and visualisation practices immediately after birth, all the way through the postpartum period.
You will learn the YogaBellies® practices, for each stage of recovery. You will be encouraged to embody each practice as you learn it.
This training is equal parts practicing and teaching yoga; personal development and empowerment skills. Mother and Child™ is a real game-changer and is going to make a huge impact on your life or the lives of the new mothers that you work with.
How does the Mother and Child™ 50-Hour course work?
Each of our 50-Hour YTT are individually accredited courses on their own (or can be added together to qualify for the 300-hour EMPOWER™ qualification.) You can join in with our live online teaching sessions for the 50-hour YTT, or you can simply view the recordings and complete the assessment in your own time. Everything you need is available to you online instantly on sign-up and you will receive a 50-Hour YTT Certificate accredited by Yoga Alliance International on completion.
If you are simply joining this programme for your own personal wellness, there is no requirement to complete the coursework.
What do the 50-Hour Courses Cover?
Each of the EMPOWER 50-hour programmes is complete within itself. With a focus on yoga for physical, emotional and mental wellbeing after birth - in this course, we focus on postpartum psychology and mother and baby bonding. We’ll cover yoga and wellness after birth, pregnancy-specific illnesses and conditions - as well as recovering from birth using breathing practices and yoga postures. We even cover baby yoga and massage in-depth. We also look at nutrition, self-care, postnatal Ayurveda and so much more :)
Cheryl will lead you on a deep, personal journey, no matter your level of yoga experience. Mother and Child™ will allow you to begin the journey to understanding and embracing the postpartum journey with baby and show you how to lead other women to do so too.

I have really enjoyed the EMPOWER 300 YTT course thus far, Module 1 really opened up a whole new depth of yoga knowledge particularly the spiritual aspect and I loved learning more about Ayurveda, Module 2 has really allowed me to appreciate our natural cycles & opened my eyes to living more in tune with nature, the seasons and in particular the moon and it’s relation to our menstrual cycle, as the course is limited to a small number of women it feels like an intimate group and safe space to share our personal experiences and wisdom together and make real friends whilst gaining a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy and practical knowledge. I am pleasantly surprised by the in depth course materials provided by Cheryl especially the extra courses for foundational yoga knowledge which is particularly beneficial for a non yoga teacher like me, the lifetime access to the materials also means I can dip in and out of these areas of study at my own pace and in as much depth as I choose, the hormonal eating plan, birth rocks, pregnancy and menopause additional materials included also provide for greater understanding of these topics alongside the EMPOWER course. I have also enjoyed access to the Yogabellies teachers lounge as well as the empower group to provide further opportunity to meet others in the yogabellies family and gain some insight from other yoga teachers and their existing knowledge. The course is refreshing in that it does not put high pressure on us to achieve certain academic grades and feels more about growing and learning over time and understanding that each module can be completed without having to “know it all” at once but that we can use the live lectures, handbooks & nest sessions to gain a foundation of knowledge in the particular module area and to sufficiently complete the module but know we will continue to use the additional materials and recommended reading throughout our lifetime and that together with our own personal yoga practice will enable us to develop practical yoga and teaching skills over time. Also thanks to the small groups undertaking the course at any given time, it means rather than feeing like a lost number in a high volume academic setting, I feel my voice can be heard and I can gain a deeper connection with those participating and teaching in the course despite being online rather than in person training and also allows for those of us to share the course across different countries. I would definitely recommend the course to any other women seeking a new challenge and wanting to develop their yoga practice and knowledge and/or wishing to teach female friendly yoga at every life stage. Even if you do not want to teach at the end of it, I’m still on a bit of a journey with this 😊 the things you learn about yourself for your own personal development is great. I love the content. I’m a busy working mum of two kids so I do wish I had more time to spend on the course as I love it but I’m trying to give myself more time for myself. That’s one of the things this teaches us. It’s not optional to look after ourselves as women, it’s essential. I’ve loved getting to know Cheryl who I think is the most incredible woman I’ve ever come across and the other ladies who are all so supportive. We know how important it is to have a top-notch training experience, especially when it comes to something as significant as becoming a pregnancy yoga teacher. 1. Live and Interactive Sessions
You can start the Birthing the Mother programme online in your own time or join our live sessions (each 50-hour course runs live twice a year) at no extra cost. The course blends weekly live online yoga teacher training, guest expert sessions, and daily interactions in our online forum with the YogaBellies team and fellow students. Each week of training, you'll engage in a combination of these sessions and home study. We're always in touch, ensuring you stay on track throughout the course. And if you miss a session, you can access it later at your convenience.
2. Handbooks and Resources
You'll receive comprehensive course handbooks, adaptations for different female life stages and conditions, cheat sheets and more. If you choose to become a licensed teacher (optional), you'll also be provided with pre-written YogaBellies class plans.
3. Online Learning
Our online resources include pre-recorded live YogaBellies class videos, lecture and asana breakdown videos, all with lifetime access and the flexibility to watch at a time that suits you. You'll also have access to downloadable handbooks, asana cheat sheets, slide shows, audio learning materials, and more.
4. Assessment
For the 50-Hour YTT qualification, you'll need to complete an online quiz and submit a short video sequence to gain your certification. However, if you're taking the course for personal reasons, this isn't required.
Upon completing your course, you'll receive a downloadable certificate from YogaBellies School. These credits can count towards the 300-Hour EMPOWER YTT within three years. If you'd like a paper certificate, you can request one from Yoga Alliance International.
