  • You're a Yoga Teacher or Wellness Professional Working with Post-Partum Women

    You work with postnatal women and/or babies, either as a yoga teacher or wellness professional, and dont feel confident that you are fully able to advise them on what they need to know after birth. This training will take you through the physiology of the fourth trimester and beyond, as well as what mum and baby will be experiencing at every stage post-partum. We dive into the female reproductive system and the YogaBellies BAP's philosophy, that women must maintain the integrity of the Back, Abs and Pelvic Floor, for optimal wellness and how to do this. You will learn which yoga practices and postures should be avoided immediately post-partum, as well as those that will be beneficial for post-natal issues such as repair of the pelvic floor, abdominal splitting, back pain, post-natal depression and more. Explore traditional ayurvedic postpartum practices, nutrition and supplementary treatments that can aid your clients in their post-natal journey with this 50-hour Yoga Alliance International qualification. You’ll also be a fully accredited baby yoga and infant massage instructor by the end of this training. You can add this to our pregnancy course, to create the 100-hour qualification also.

This programe covers not only post-natal yoga for mothers but also the ancient art of baby yoga and infant massage. These tools can help us, and the mothers we work with, to recover naturally from childbirth. Modern media tells us to ‘get back our pre-pregnancy body’ and to ‘bounce back’ but traditional literature explains why this is detrimental to women in the long term.

This course focuses on embracing the new role of mother and how to integrate the baby into our lives, on and off the yoga mat. We focus on mental health postnatally and also our physcial recovery and on rebuilding strength and loving our new postpartum bodies. We look at the YogaBellies BAP’s practices - exploring the relationship between the Back, Abs and Pelvic Floor - to ensure that mother recovers fully and in the longer term from birth, in safe and timely manner.

If we try to ‘bounce back’ after birth we’ll feel exhausted, drained, demotivated and that we’re fighting a losing battle. We may even affect our relationship with our new baby. The fact is that embracing post-partum and respecting our recovery period  is essential for our wellbeing throughout life.”

This module really highlights the importance of caring for the mother as well as the baby post natally. The body goes through so much in pregnancy and I loved that the focus was on supporting mum both mentally and physically as she emerges into her new role as mother. I loved the baby yoga poses and learning about how these simple movements can help with their development. I understand why women need yoga throughout life - and that it can benefit us as much in life as it can in class. I've practiced and I've taught women at every life stage - in fact,  over 100,000 women in the UK alone,  have come along to YogaBellies classes to balance their hormones; relieve stress; find their calm place for birth; chill with baby afterward and battle the symptoms of menopause. 

Yoga is as important to women at 14 as it is 99, and over my 25 years of yoga practice, I have developed The YogaBellies Sadhana, to give women exactly what they need in a safe and therapeutic practice.

YogaBellies isn't just about pulling shapes: It's about loving yourself, on and off the yoga mat. Body positivity, Self-love, and Self-worth are all important elements of our practice and the EMPOWER™ journey.

What is Mother and Child™ ?

I created this programme for those who want to become an expert in yoga for the post-partum period, for mother and child. This is not dry teacher training course, we look primarily at YOU living and embracing your yoga - on and off the yoga mat - from breathing and visualisation practices immediately after birth, all the way through the postpartum period.

You will learn the YogaBellies® practices, for each stage of recovery. You will be encouraged to embody each practice as you learn it. 

This training is equal parts practicing and teaching yoga; personal development and empowerment skills. Mother and Child™ is a real game-changer and is going to make a huge impact on your life or the lives of the new mothers that you work with.

 

How does the Mother and Child™ 50-Hour course work?

Each of our 50-Hour YTT are individually accredited courses on their own (or can be added together to qualify for the 300-hour EMPOWER™ qualification.) You can join in with our live online teaching sessions for the 50-hour YTT, or you can simply view the recordings and complete the assessment in your own time. Everything you need is available to you online instantly on sign-up and you will receive a 50-Hour YTT Certificate accredited by Yoga Alliance International on completion.

If you are simply joining this programme for your own personal wellness, there is no requirement to complete the coursework.

 

What do the 50-Hour Courses Cover?

Each of the EMPOWER 50-hour programmes is complete within itself. With a focus on yoga for physical, emotional and mental wellbeing after birth - in this course, we focus on postpartum psychology and mother and baby bonding. We’ll cover yoga and wellness after birth, pregnancy-specific illnesses and conditions - as well as recovering from birth using breathing practices and yoga postures. We even cover baby yoga and massage in-depth. We also look at nutrition, self-care, postnatal Ayurveda and so much more :)

Cheryl will lead you on a deep, personal journey, no matter your level of yoga experience. Mother and Child™ will allow you to begin the journey to understanding and embracing the postpartum journey with baby and show you how to lead other women to do so too.

With more than 15 years of experience as a yoga teacher, and over a decade in training and leading YogaBellies® teachers, Cheryl is the visionary behind Mother and Child™

How is the programme delivered?


Having had some pretty deplorable 'online' training experiences myself, I wanted to make sure that all of my courses provided as much as an in-person training BUT with the added benefits of having lifetime access to the resources and access them in your own time.

 

LIVE AND INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

Mother and Child can be undertaken immediately online in your own time or you can join our live sessions (which run once a year) at no extra costs. The programme is a combination of live (or live online) yoga teacher training and guest expert sessions;  daily interaction in our online forum with the YB team and your peers. Every week of training you will be engaged in a combination of these training sessions with home study too. We're constantly interacting with you to make sure you're on track throughout the training and if you can't make a session you can access it later in your own time.


HANDBOOKS AND RESOURCES

In addition to this, you have access to complete handbooks for the course; adaptions for the female life stage and conditions and more. You'll also be provided with pre-written YogaBellies class plans if you chose to become a licensed teacher too (optional).


ONLINE LEARNING

We provide pre-recorded live YogaBellies class videos for your review and learning; lecture and asana break down videos, all of which you have lifetime access to and can watch at a time to suit. You also get downloadable handbooks, Asana ‘Cheat Sheets’, slide shows, audio learning and more.


 ASSESSMENT

For the 50-Hour YTT qualification, you must complete the online quiz to gain your certification. If you are just completing the training for personal reasons, there is no requirement to do this. If you wish to gain the 300-Hour Qualification, there are various other criteria that need to be met also. 

You will receive a downloadable certificate from YogaBellies on completion of your mini-course and these can also be counted as credits towards with 300-Hour EMPOWER YTT within 3 years. If you require a paper certificate you can request this from Yoga Alliance International.

We are Half way through already! I have really enjoyed the EMPOWER 300 YTT course thus far, Module 1 really opened up a whole new depth of yoga knowledge particularly the spiritual aspect and I loved learning more about Ayurveda, Module 2 has really allowed me to appreciate our natural cycles & opened my eyes to living more in tune with nature, the seasons and in particular the moon and it’s relation to our menstrual cycle, as the course is limited to a small number of women it feels like an intimate group and safe space to share our personal experiences and wisdom together and make real friends whilst gaining a deeper understanding of yoga philosophy and practical knowledge. I am pleasantly surprised by the in depth course materials provided by Cheryl especially the extra courses for foundational yoga knowledge which is particularly beneficial for a non yoga teacher like me, the lifetime access to the materials also means I can dip in and out of these areas of study at my own pace and in as much depth as I choose, the hormonal eating plan, birth rocks, pregnancy and menopause additional materials included also provide for greater understanding of these topics alongside the EMPOWER course. I have also enjoyed access to the Yogabellies teachers lounge as well as the empower group to provide further opportunity to meet others in the yogabellies family and gain some insight from other yoga teachers and their existing knowledge. The course is refreshing in that it does not put high pressure on us to achieve certain academic grades and feels more about growing and learning over time and understanding that each module can be completed without having to “know it all” at once but that we can use the live lectures, handbooks & nest sessions to gain a foundation of knowledge in the particular module area and to sufficiently complete the module but know we will continue to use the additional materials and recommended reading throughout our lifetime and that together with our own personal yoga practice will enable us to develop practical yoga and teaching skills over time. Also thanks to the small groups undertaking the course at any given time, it means rather than feeing like a lost number in a high volume academic setting, I feel my voice can be heard and I can gain a deeper connection with those participating and teaching in the course despite being online rather than in person training and also allows for those of us to share the course across different countries. I would definitely recommend the course to any other women seeking a new challenge and wanting to develop their yoga practice and knowledge and/or wishing to teach female friendly yoga at every life stage. It is truly a course that every female at every life stage will benefit from. EMPOWER 300 Hr YTT was everything I was looking for and more. I was completely at a loss with where to start in following my dream of yoga teacher training and fulfilling my wish to gain greater knowledge on all things women's health and wellness. I have enjoyed learning the theory, improving my knowledge on the practical side of yoga, deepening my understanding through the brilliant book recommendations and learning alongside the other wonderful women on the course. It has given me confidence that I had lost and it has given me a renewed energy to help other women as I taken my training into practice. I can honestly see why the course is called Empower. It’s so inspiring to me as a female. The wealth of information is amazing and will keep me invested to keep learning for years to come! Even if you do not want to teach at the end of it, I’m still on a bit of a journey with this 😊 the things you learn about yourself for your own personal development is great. I love the content. I’m a busy working mum of two kids so I do wish I had more time to spend on the course as I love it but I’m trying to give myself more time for myself. That’s one of the things this teaches us. It’s not optional to look after ourselves as women, it’s essential. I’ve loved getting to know Cheryl who I think is the most incredible woman I’ve ever come across and the other ladies who are all so supportive. I am part way though the Empower training and really loving it. The content is relevant to me and the different stages of my life (I began peri-menopause within 12 months of having a baby), and is also giving me the knowledge and understanding I need to become a yoga teacher. I am managing to fit the requirements of the course around work and family life, and although I found everything a little overwhelming initially, I’ve come to realise that’s how I react to anything new!
