"I knew that Menopause would be pretty early for me. My mum went through full menopause in her early 40s and I started to experience symptoms around the same time. 

So many women breeze through their menopause transition and do not experience sleepless nights, anxiety, weight gain (or weight loss), sore joints, heart palpitations, and depression, despite the fact that many of us do. Have you ever wondered why menopause is seen as an illness that must be 'treated' rather than a new, healthy and bloody exciting stage of life? I knew there was so much evidence coming to light around natural alternatives to symptoms and this led me to look into how yoga could help make this transition easy.

The worst thing  I found out about getting older? 

The fact that society tells us it's a bad thing.

Women 'lose their value' as they age in the world that we live in: The Maiden, youth, fertility... these are seen as the value of women in this patriarchial society. 

I call absolute B*llshit on this!

I wouldn't swap 43 for 21 if you paid me.

I'm so much more confident in myself. I look better (and yes, I have wrinkles!) I feel GREAT and I know what I want and where I'm going in life. I take time to look after myself - mind, body and soul.

This is MY time in life!

I created this programme for women who want to move towards menopause and beyond, feeling positive and empowered. My programme explores the stages of menopause and what to expect and which yoga practices will aid you on your journey - in every aspect of your lifestyle.  Becoming a Wise Woman has so much value... so much to offer that nobody tells us about.

You don't need to be in menopause or even close to join. Any woman who wants to age positively and embrace a lifelong yoga practice on and off the mat - for themselves or to empower other women will benefit.

Welcoming the Crone looks primarily at Menopause Mindset: How we think about ageing and our sense of selves as we get older. Once we've reframed our thoughts on getting older, the physical signs and symptoms fall in line.

My programme includes specially designed yoga mindset and physical exercises and mindful meditation techniques to help manage key symptoms such as hot flashes, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, lack of focus, and low moods. Additionally, you will learn about natural remedies, nutrition, Indian Ayurveda, and medical hormone replacement therapy, for example.

This programme is of such high quality it is also a Yoga Alliance International accredited training. You will learn how to support other women going through perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause, helping women to manage their symptoms and their mindset. My approach to menopause brings elements of eastern and western medicine together, for the ultimate menopause yoga and mindset reset and lifestyle programme.

Who Is Embracing the Crone For?

This training is for you if:

  • You are over 40 and starting to experience changes that you suspect could be menopause

    You’re starting to notice things like insomnia and hot flashes that you never had before or perhaps you’re noticing changes in your menstrual cycle. You think that you’re moving towards menopause… but you don’t know, because who talks about it!? You feel disconnected from your body and you just don’t feel like yourself. You find yourself feeling more exhausted than usual, perhaps you’re experiencing anxiety or low mood and want to look at natural solutions. Perhaps you’re finding that what you want from your yoga practice has changed and you want to know what are the best options for you now. You want to understand how this new life stage will impact your life and how to embrace it positively and armed with knowledge, on and off the yoga mat.

  • You're currently in menopause or menopause is over

    You know that you’re in menopause and you’re experiencing ALL of the symptoms -body, mind and soul. You are just not functioning as you should. You want to look at natural solutions before or alongside HRT and you want to have all the facts before you make choices. You know that your yoga practice can be your greatest tool at this life stage, but you want to know what kind of practice you need now and learn yogic solutions for menopause aches and pains. You want to look and feel your best at every age and truly live a yoga lifestyle during and after menopause.

  • You want to work with/teach yoga to women over 40 in a way thats therapeutic

    You work with women over 40, either as a yoga teacher or other wellness practitioner, and want a comprehensive, world-recognized qualification on each stage of menopause. You will learn how best to serve your clients through every stage including yoga and breathing practices, meditations, and self-care. You’ll also learn about physiology, the role of hormones throughout life, and how to strengthen the BAP’s (back, abs and pelvic floor) at this key time.

Embracing the Crone Online Training

This Yoga Alliance International accredited 50-Hr YTT, explores the female body, mind and soul as we begin to age, moving through the stages of menopause. Healthy ageing practices combined with therapeutic yoga for common female conditions over 40.

"I understand why women need yoga throughout life - and that it can benefit us as much in life as it can in class. I've practiced and I've taught women at every life stage - in fact,  over 100,000 women in the UK alone, have come along to YogaBellies classes to balance their hormones; relieve stress; find their calm place for birth; chill with baby afterward and battle the symptoms of menopause. 

Hot flashes, insomnia, weight gain, brain fog, self-doubt, loss of direction, depression…

I educated myself on all things menopause (how much didn’t I know??) and started to educate other women on the specific YogaBellies practices and lifestyle tools that were going to ease all of these symptoms and more.

Yoga is as important to women at 14 as it is 99, and over my 25 years of yoga practice, I have developed The YogaBellies Sadhana, to give women exactly what they need in a safe and therapeutic practice.

Body positivity, Self-love, and Self-worth are all important elements of our practice as we age.

I remember, almost 20 years ago, when I was doing my first yoga teacher training, my senior yoga teacher had told me that she’d had no menopausal symptoms at all and it was due to her yoga practice. I didn’t think much about it at the time (who cares about menopause in their twenties??) but now I reflect back on that - and she was 100% right!

How is the training delivered?


Having had some pretty deplorable 'online' training experiences myself, I wanted to make sure that Embracing the Crone provided as much as an in-person training BUT with the added benefits of having lifetime access to the resources and access them in your own time.


How is the training delivered?


LIVE AND INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

This training is a combination of live (or live online) yoga teacher training and guest expert sessions; live mentoring sessions with myself and my Senior YogaBellies Teachers and daily interaction in our online forum with the YB team and your peers. Every week of training you will be engaged in a combination of these training sessions with home study too. We're constantly interacting with you to make sure you're on track throughout the training and if you can't make a session you can access it later in your own time. (You can also choose to just join the pre-recorded training instead)

HANDBOOKS AND RESOURCES

In addition to this, you have access to complete handbooks for each module; adaptions for the female life stage and conditions and more. You'll also be provided with pre-written YogaBellies class plans if you chose to become a licensed teacher (optional).

ONLINE LEARNING

We provide pre-recorded live YogaBellies class videos for your review and learning; lecture and asana break-down videos, all of which you have lifetime access to and can watch at a time to suit. You also get downloadable handbooks, Asana ‘Cheat Sheets’, slide shows, audio learning and more.

 ASSESSMENT

For the 50-Hour YTT qualification, you must complete the online quiz to gain your certification. If you are just completing the training for personal reasons, there is no requirement to do this. 

You will receive a downloadable certificate from YogaBellies on completion of your mini-course and these can also be counted as credits towards with 300-Hour EMPOWER YTT within 3 years. If you require a paper certificate you can request this from Yoga Alliance International.
